With the rules relaxing, I'm pleased to be able to offer an in-person 'walkshop' in June, in Lewes in East Sussex.
In this half-day outdoor workshop we will explore how to identify common resident and summer visiting birds on the wild edge of Lewes, East Sussex.
The ‘walkshop’ includes:
Before the day, access to step-by-step audio lessons on how to identify 5 key species of woodland and wetlands - reed warbler, sedge warbler, treecreeper, blackcap and song thrush - by sound.
A gentle 2.5-hour walk around wet woodland, reedbed and river’s edge in Lewes.
Potential species encountered will include the five ‘targets’ above, plus wren, robin, blackbird, dunnock, chaffinch, greenfinch, goldfinch, common crows, tits, great spotted woodpecker, chiffchaff, common whitethroat and more.
Tea, coffee and cake, and a sit-down Q&A session to end the morning.
Easy access by bus and rail.
Small group size (maximum 10 participants).
Starts 8am central Lewes, finishes midday.
£45 per person (or £30 for Birdsong Academy course graduates)
At least 10% of ticket revenue will go to a Lewes-based wildlife conservation project.
Further details, including how to book, are on the Birdsong Academy site:
